[Transcript of, "#HandsOffMyADA", produced by Rooted in Rights] Hi, I’m Clark Matthews with Rooted in Rights. In case you didn't know, Congress is getting ready to vote on a bill called HR 620 which has been designed to take the power out of the Americans with Disabilities Act (the ADA). That’s why we’re using social media to tell Congress and the rest of America that they're not going to get away with watering down one of the most important, far-reaching pieces of civil rights legislation of the past 30 years. What you can do is use the hashtags - #HandsOffMyADA and #StopHR620 - to share your story now. Take a picture of yourself holding one of these signs you can download at RootedinRights.org/HandsOffMyADA Be sure to fill it out so that you can let people know because of the Americans with Disabilities Act, I know that my rights are civil rights. If HR 620 passes, it will be easier than ever for businesses that we use every day - - shops, hotels, restaurants, public bathrooms, anywhere that provides public accommodations - - to violate the rights of people with disabilities. That makes me pissed off. The ADA is worth protecting because the ADA protects us. Tell your representative now to keep their #HandsOffMyADA! Share this video. [End of transcript.]
