When Disability Rights Washington launched DisAbility Rights Galaxy four years ago, we wanted to create the best online source for news and information about the ongoing fight for equal rights for people with disabilities.
Since that time, we’ve added the capacity for video, photography and social media to help enhance that goal. In 2015, we added staff members to produce new creative content every month on stories from around the country and around the world. We’ve added new social media channels to find new audiences.
No matter how we reach those new audiences in the future, we will always be rooted in the cause for equal rights.
Now it’s time to bring it all together. On May 12th, DisAbility Rights Galaxy is changing its name to Rooted in Rights, along with a new Facebook page and Instagram page, and a revamped YouTube Channel and Twitter Feed. In the weeks ahead, you will notice a new look on this site, but don’t worry, we are still going to bring you stories from across the Galaxy. Beginning on the 12th, all people that visit disabilityrightsgalaxy.com and rootedinrights.com will be automatically re-directed to rootedinrights.org.
The passage of the ADA, the Independent Living movement, the Deaf President Now protests at Gallaudet, the “Capitol Crawl,” the Parents Movement – these were all pivotal moments in the struggle for equal rights. We will continue to tell the story of the fight to create lasting change.
To create a more equal society, you have to be rooted in rights. Please join us.
