VIDEO: Towards an Inclusive Tunisia with Arbi Chouikh
How can a democratic government become more accessible and accountable to citizens with disabilities? Great examples can be found in Tunisia where disability rights advocates have made strong progress since the revolution of 2011. Arbi Chouikh tells us all about their campaign in his first Storytellers video for Rooted in Rights.
Arbi first met the Rooted in Rights team in 2016 when he participated in the Professional Fellows Program, which is run by Hands Across the Nile and funded by the U.S. Department of State. The program brought Arbi to Seattle, where he worked with Disability Rights Washington, the parent organization of Rooted in Rights. Arbi sat it on production meetings and presented on his work advocating for voting rights in Tunisia. And that’s where his Storytellers journey began.
