Alexa Posney, the nation’s top special education official, stepped down from her role as assistant secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, effective August 9.
Posney, who has served in the Obama Administration since 2009, will take a job at a Wisconsin-based Renaissance Learning, a company which sells products to schools. She will sit as senior vice president of state and federal programs.
“I am honored to have been able to serve in this position and to serve this administration as we strive to improve results and outcomes for individuals with disabilities,” Posny told Disability Scoop.
Temporarily filling in Posney’s shoes will be Michael Yudin, the current deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.
