Sunday, September 26
5:00 – 7:00 p.m. PST
ASL interpretation and captioning will be provided
From event hosts:
As a result of the passing of our previous director, Kathy Coleman, and the COVID-19 pandemic, DACP had largely stopped programming for the past year and a half. However, with new leadership from Executive Director Rebel Black, Creative Director Jennifer Kemp, and our new intern SJ Thompson–as well as creative uses of online resources–we have started up again. The Welcome Event will include ASL interpretation and captioning, music, snacks (delivered to your door if you live in Portland OR), and a chance to connect with community.
We are working to rebuild DACP from its roots, centering Disabled Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, Multiracial people, and People of Color. We want to hear from you about your dreams for DACP, and how we can best support you and your communities. However, we also want to take accountability for the racist, ableist, and transphobic harm DACP has caused in the past. Feel free to participate (or just listen) during the community dialogue portion to share your experiences with DACP, your reflections, and to give suggestions about what you would like to see in the future.
